The Safe and Sound Squad

Members of the Safe & Sound Squad consists of a group of career firefighters currently serving with the City of Lafayette Fire Department, and host of friends and family, who have “entertained and educated” tens of thousands of children throughout the State of Indiana over the past decade. They have received many testimonials from parents, teachers, state & local fire officials, and elected government representatives regarding the effectiveness of their programs, and have been presented with the State of Indiana Fire Marshall’s “Meritorious Service Award” recognizing their unique approach of teaching fire and life safety skills to children through their highly interactive and fun-filled “Firehouse Musical” stage production which features:

Live Music performed by The Safe & Sound Squad Band (who perform fun “parity” songs and original music such as “Stop, Drop & Roll” and “Two Ways Out”)

The Safe & Sound Safety Club casts of characters (including the “Safe & Sound Hound”, “Spanky”, the big kid with a propeller on his head, Captain Cat, and Nancy Know-it-All)

In addition to the important messages taught during their live performances, the Safe & Sound Squad offers safety materials and products used by school teachers, fire departments, and parents to further reinforce these important safety messages. Their music CD titled “There’s Safety in Numbers” features catchy tunes designed to teach children important life safety skills through the “universal language of music.” Their action-packed DVD titled “Sing-Along for Fire Safety” simulates children visiting an authentic firehouse on a school field trip where they experience a multi-sensory educational experience they will never forget.
